We are very excited to share with everyone the latest in training technology. IQ Soprts Technology's New "Q Boost". For the first time it is possible to get split times between all obstacles, average yards per second between obstacles, fastest dog walk, fastest weave poles, fastest a-frame and many other statistics that have not been previously available. This will allow for a much more complete view of the dog’s performance that will allow for greater performance improvement.
Our system starts with an extremely robust database. Designed from the ground up and customized to deliver comparative analysis of one dog’s performance to another; or compared to its own past performance. You can filter by height, age, sex, class, breed (including mix breeds), and course surface. Just about any way you can think of, we can deliver the analyzed data. Also, if a comparative data set is wanted that we have not thought of we can easily add it to our solution.
To collect the data we have selected an extremely precise timing box that has passed International testing. It is approved for use by many sports federations and is already used for many international competitions. Many teams in cycling, swimming, skiing, track and field, and bobsled use it for their most important competitions. The precision of the timing box has been tested to 1/10,000 of a second, thus it is more precise than the current system that is being used for our important agility competitions. It is on par with the timing system used at the FCI World Championships. In addition, we have also selected photocells that are of the same caliber as the timing box to insure data integrity and system integration. As dog and handler teams have gotten better we see less and less time seperating them in the standings. The sport is at a place where precise timing is needed. What makes more precise is the timing box is heat compensated where the current one used is not. Without the heat compensation the time "drifts". It run slower when cold and faster when hot. If you had two runs of exactly the same time, one was in the cool morning, one in the hot afternoon, the one in the morning can be several seconds faster!! This can change placements!! Think of a clock with the batteries running down...that's the clock you would get in the morning. Temperature compensation is the key to fair and accurate timing. A Temperature compensated Quartz crystal (basically the crystal is inside a miniature oven) allows it to operate the same at all temperatures. "Electronic timing, properly installed and operated is the only way to guarantee that every competitor from the highest to lowest seeded receives a fair and unbiased record of their accomplishment."
We also have developed several custom solutions that are integrated into the timing box. The first one is the weave poles. We have a wireless infrared laser that is set into the weave pole so the start and finish of the weave poles can be measured. Data is then transmitted to our system and integrated for analysis. The weave pole’s only visual difference is the cap on the top of the pole, (for the microprocessor and wireless components), and a housing in the poles that holds the laser. Another custom solution is for the table. Our solution allows for either a sit, a down, or a neutral position. The judge decides when the position is reached and the countdown is to start, (just as it is now). The difference is the judge will press a small cylindrical button that will trigger an audio countdown (a visual countdown is optional). The button is attached to a small wireless transmitter so the signal to the table is activated and the data can be transmitted for integration and analysis. The audio is calibrated to deliver a consistent and precise count for all competitors. On the cutting edge of technology, our virtual map of the dog’s path can visually compare one dog’s path to another giving a visual picture as to why one dog beat another. You can look at rate of acceleration (and deceleration), and the degree of turns that the dog actually took. You can look at the elevation over the jump or approach path to an obstacle. You can also lay the path of one dog over the path of another dog to analyze the difference in the runs. Our virtual map of the dog’s path will be finished later this year. Another custom solution currently in development is our contact solution. When complete, our solution will allow wireless transmission of the exact point where the dog has touched on the contact zone and create a 3 axis point of the data for analysis. The force at which the dog hits the contact is another parameter that can be analyzed. Many of the data sets can also be used to help reduce and prevent injury to the dogs.
All this collected data is seamlessly synchronized with the database by use of RFID that will be assigned to the competitors at the registration table. Prior to entering the course to compete, an RFID reader will read the tag and wirelessly pull up the handler and dog’s information. The analysis of this data can now rank handlers and have the data for several different dogs associated with them. All this data is accessed and analysis with our custom software. The software is run on computers that are networked to upload the data to the internet for instant access to the data by anyone needing it for multiple purposes. We also have an on site computer with the database to serve as a backup for data integrity. There are multiple safety features built in to capture the data at several locations to prevent any data loss due to failure of any type. The data is also protected by encryption.
